UPDATE: Two people were hurt in an ammonia leak at the Tyson plant in South Hutchinson Thursday morning.

Police say the plant was evacuated shortly after the leak was discovered, but employees will be allowed back in the building later Thursday morning.

Police say two contractors were hurt in the leak, one was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Everyone is accounted for, and the leak was contained to the building.

This isn't the first ammonia-related incident at Tyson. A man died following a leak back in 2006. In that case, OSHA fined Tyson $40,000 for safety violations.

Despite the leak, employees say they consider Tyson a safe place to work. They do regular safety drills to prepare for these situations.

The cause of the leak is under investigation. We are working to get updated information on the man who was critically hurt.
