Multiple vehicle crash shuts down I-135 near Salina Saturday morning

UPDATE 12:30 p.m.:

Kansas Highway Patrol says a Chevy Silverado truck was going southbound on I-135 at around 6:30 a.m. just south of Schilling Road, when it struck a guardrail and was disabled in the roadway.

Two vehicles also going southbound then hit the truck and debris in the roadway, according to KHP.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for suspected serious injuries. The other drivers had either minor injuries or no injuries.


UPDATE 10:20 a.m.:

Trooper Ben Gardner of KHP says I-135 is now reopened. Drivers should continue to use caution as first responders are still in the area.

2/9 7:00 a.m.

Interstate 135 southbound near Salina is shut down due to a multiple vehicle crash.

Trooper Ben Gardner with the Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash involves a semi and several passenger vehicles. Gardner tells us there are injuries but he does not know how serious they are.

Salina Police closed down the interstate in that area while KHP and other emergency crews work on the scene.
