WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) The fall weather is nice now, but Inter-Faith Ministries is preparing its emergency shelters for when winter arrives.
The organization opens says there will be two emergency shelters -- one for men and one for women -- located at 841 and 848 N. Market. They open next Thursday, November 1.
Those in need of a warm place to stay at night will get a bed, dinner and breakfast and have limited access to a closet full of donated toiletries, gently used clothing and winter wear.
"Thank you to Cheryl Duart and Jonni Tennant for leading the efforts to get the closets up and running this year. We are always looking for volunteers to run these closets so please contact us if you are interested!" Reads a post on the organization's Facebook page.
There will also be access to basic health care from a nurse’s station on Monday and Thursday evenings.
"A very special shout out to local Eagle Scout Preston who brainstormed and built the privacy screens (pictured here) to go over the new mats in our men’s shelter!" Continues the post.
Inter-Faith Ministries says it is still in need of meal sponsors for the months of December and January.
