'It's so cool': Boy with autism celebrates birthday at Wichita laundromat
Family and friends gathered Saturday to make a young boy's seventh birthday a special one.
Declan's mother, Courtney Williams, says her son loves laundry. When she asked him where he wanted to have his birthday, Declan chose the local laundromat.
"He is on the autism spectrum and one of the things with that is he has obsessions. Laundry being one of them," Courtney said.
Courtney says having her community there to celebrate and understand her son's passion was everything.
"Seeing my child in his element, and people joining his world rather than him being in there's. It's what I always say that he lives in our world everyday and he has to cope and conform and it was just so great to see everybody go to his world and be so happy about it and just embrace it," Courtney said.
