KBI: Tribal officer found dead in patrol car in Brown County

BROWN COUNTY, Kan. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is investigating the death of a law enforcement officer who was discovered in northern Brown County, early Wednesday morning.

The agency says just before 6 a.m. 43-year-old Kirby Robidoux, a patrol officer of the Sac and Fox Police Department, was found dead near the intersection of 330th St. and Longspur Rd. in northern Brown County.

Robidoux was on duty when law enforcement officers in the area began searching for him after he did not respond to dispatchers conducting a routine radio check. The officer was located by a member of the Iowa Tribal Police Department.

The Phillips County Sheriff's Office offered condolences on its Facebook page and said Robidoux was a deputy there in the early 2000s.

An autopsy will be conducted. At this time foul play is not suspected. The investigation is ongoing.
