CBC Real Estate Group, based in Kansas City, Mo., announced its plans to develop a 65,000 square-foot, 30-bed acute care hospital and neighboring 40,000 square-foot medical office in Derby.

The $40 million Rock Regional Hospital will be located north of Patriot Avenue and west of Rock Road in the proposed STAR Bond District at the north end of Derby.

In a news release announcing plans for the new hospital, CBC Real Estate Group says it anticipates construction to begin this year and the hospital being fully operational by 2018.

CBC says Rock Regional Hospital will have a surgical emphasis. The 30 beds will include 12 inpatient medical beds, 12 surgical beds and six intensive care beds. The real estate group says the facility will include three operating rooms, two procedure rooms, three cath lab rooms and three emergency department rooms.

CBC says the hospital will be operated by Candor Healthcare, based in Southlake, Texas.
