Man arrested in Salina following multi-county chase

SALINA, Kan. (KWCH) 7:14 p.m.

Police arrest a man following a chase and search in northern in Kansas.

Trooper Ben Gardner with the Kansas Highway Patrol says the incident started just before 2 p.m. in Cloud County when 23-year-old Michael Woods led police on a chase.

Law enforcement lost sight of the car, but troopers came across the vehicle in Ottawa county where a second pursuit started. That chase was soon called off after it reached unsafe speeds upon entering Saline County.

Troopers later located the car at the Red Coach Inn in Salina, near I-70 and 9th St. They talked to the managers and got a room number for the suspect. Inside, police found three people - Woods and two women.

Officers arrested Woods shortly before 5 p.m. for felony flee and elude and felony obstruction. He also has warrant in Cloud County.

Officers detained to the two women and transferred them back to Cloud County.

The scene is in now clear in Salina following a heavy police presence near I-70 and 9th Street Tuesday afternoon.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says troopers are assisting with a suspect search in Salina.

KHP dispatch says local law enforcement was involved in a chase with a vehicle. At some point, officers lost sight of the vehicle, then the vehicle showed up near I-70 and 9th in Salina.

Officers are still trying to figure out where the suspects are.
