KS schools closed due to widespread flu back open Monday

Three Kansas school districts were back in session Monday after closures last week due to widespread illness.

The Kiowa County, Attica and Peabody-Burns school districts took extra days off last week to disinfect because so many people are getting sick, primarily with the flu.

Attica and Peabody-Burns were out Friday. Kiowa County was out Thursday and Friday.

Though back open Monday, several Kiowa County students are still out with illness. Kiowa County Principal Travis Powell says the district encourages parents to keep their kids home if they're not feeling well.

"Last week, we had the social media post go out, if your kid's aren't feeling well or they have high temperatures, keep them at home," Powell says. "Let's try and break that cycle."
