#KWCHTraffic Alert: Two big road closures in/around downtown Wichita
Two KWCH 12 Traffic Alerts for Wichita drivers today (Monday, May 13).
A portion of 2nd Street is closing down after rush hour this morning. That closure will impact 2nd from Washington to Santa Fe (at the railroad crossing).
A construction manager for the project tells us this is part of a larger, nearly $2 million project in the Old Town District.
Crews are doing work on drainage in the area. They’re also working to move curbs inward and extend sidewalks to give pedestrians more room
This part of the project is expected to last until Friday (May 17). The next phase will be to remove and replace pavement on 1st Street.
That entire project is expected to wrap up in late summer.
Also this morning, a portion of McLean near the new baseball stadium will shut down to northbound traffic.
Again, this project will start after the morning rush hour, and will extend along McLean from Maple to Douglas.
This project is part of construction for the new baseball stadium.
Wichita’s Assistant City Engineer says crews will be doing exploratory work on a waterline. They’re relocating that line later this summer.
This closure is also expected to last through the end of the week.
