Kansas man celebrates 106th birthday
A special birthday celebration was held in Sedgwick for one of the oldest men in Kansas.
Elmer Christiansan turned 106-years-old Saturday and his family and friends had a big celebration for him at the Senior Center in Sedgwick.
"We just feel really blessed. We don’t know what God’s plan is for him, but you know we have to wait and see," said Shirley Koerner, daughter.
Christiansan says his secret to living such a long life is staying busy.
"Yeah, I still mow my own lawn. I had to quit driving. I still get along pretty good," said Christiansan.
Christiansan had five generations of family members at the celebration.
"He’s been a hard worker you know, worked at the Alfalfa Mill while I was growing up," said Koerner. "When mom passed away, we just kind of kept him busy doing things, you know so he wasn’t dwelling."
Christiansan has received proclamations from the state and the Sedgwick mayor.
