On the day set aside to give thanks, the Lord's Diner, in its 16th year serving meals to people in need in the Wichita community, is set to serve its 5 millionth meal.

The ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Wichita says it will serve that 5 millionth guest at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday (Thanksgiving) at its North Broadway location. The Lord's Diner serves meals seven days per week, 365 days per year.

The Lord's Diner, operating with a small staff and more than 6,000 volunteers, serves about 2,500 guests per day.

"All aspects of life come together in unity at the Lord's Diner all for the greater good of our community and to help serve the hungry," the ministry says.
