Maize LED stop sign stolen

MAIZE, Kan. (KWCH) The Maize Police Department wants your help in locating an LED stop sign stolen from the intersection of 37th Street North and 119th Street West.

Police say sometime during the overnight hours of Wednesday into the early morning hours of Thursday the LED flashing stop sign was taken.

The sign's post was sawed off at the base.

Maize police say these signs cost around $1900.00 including installation.

Aside from the value of the sign, the removal of stop signs at intersections poses a significant safety hazard for motorist.

The value of the sign is insignificant compared to the cost in a life lost resulting from a senseless traffic accident that could result from the missing sign.

Anyone locating the sign or having information as to its whereabouts or the person or person(s) responsible for the removal of the sign is ask to either return the sign to Maize City Hall or contact Detective Piper with the Maize Police Department at 316-722-1433.
