Maize teen organizes blood drive to help leukemia patients

MAIZE, Kan. (KWCH) A Maize teen who has been fighting leukemia for more than two years held a blood drive Saturday to help others suffering from the disease.

In less than two years, Hannah Soderstrom and her family has sponsored three American Red Cross blood drives. They've collected more than 160 donations.

"Blood drives are so important to me. They're like the foundation of my life itself because without blood drives or people donating and giving blood, I wouldn't be here today," Soderstrom said. "I've gotten over 50 blood transfusions. Through my treatments, I've just gotten so many blood transfusions. Without them, I wouldn't be here today."

Hannah started a foundation to help other kids at the end of treatment get back to normal life.
