Update: K-96 is now open to Nickerson Residents.

The Reno County Emergency Management says the barricades on K-96 at Wilson only apply to truck traffic.

"Nickerson residents can come to and from on K96 freely," reads a post on the agency's Facebook page. "At this time, there are no evacuations in Reno County."

The Reno County Sheriff's Office says the Kansas Department of Transportation has closed K-14/K-96 highway in Reno County from the K-14/K-96 and Wilson Road exit to the west end of Nickerson.

"The only traffic being allowed to continue westbound on the highways from the Wilson Road exit is residences of Nickerson," the sheriff's office says. "This is due to all other routes in or out of Nickerson being closed to flood waters."

The sheriff's office says all other traffic has to turn around at the K-14/K-96 and Wilson Road exit and is being routed back toward Hutchinson and US-50.

I cannot think of a better picture for “Turn around, don’t drown”. Our Patrol is currently on scene now. Thankfully, the driver survived and is ok.
