2 men arrested after drugs, loaded gun, $5,000 cash found in Gray County traffic stop

Gray County Sheriff's Office

GRAY COUNTY, Kan. The Gray County Sheriff's Office in western Kansas makes a pair of arrests after a deputy finds a loaded, 9 mm handgun, about 2.2 pounds of marijuana and a nearly $5,000 cash on a Monday night traffic stop.

The sheriff''s office says the deputy detained the driver and passenger of the stopped car for "plain view marijuana possession."

During a search of the car, the deputy found the loaded gun, more drugs and the cash.

"People argue about marijuana laws and the medical effects and they are entitled to their opinion, the sheriff's office says. "But this was criminal possession with intent to distribute, a business that doesn't care about safety or health of the traffickers, the officers or the citizens."

The Gray County Sheriff's Office says a sergeant with the department and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted on the stop and with transporting the two men arrested in this case to the Meade County Jail.
