Man arrested after deadly shooting in S. Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Wichita police arrest a man after a deadly shooting in south Wichita on Saturday.

Carver Soliman, 20, of Wichita, was booked into the Sedgwick County jail on charges of 2nd-degree murder and aggravated battery, stemming from the early morning shooting.

Officers were called to a home in the 1200 block of S. Main around 5:45 a.m. for the report of a shooting.

Officers arrived to find 24-year-old John Buess-Wheeler of Augusta inside of the house with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Buess-Wheeler was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries. A short time later, officers learned that a second victim, a 25-year-old man, drove himself to the hospital. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed there was a fight between Soliman, Buess-Wheeler and the other victim inside the home. During the disturbance, police say Soliman fired a handgun striking the other two men.

Police say they believe the shooting is drug-related.
