KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KWCH) A man was sentenced on Thursday to almost 4 years in federal prison for smuggling more than 1,000 pounds of liquid methamphetamine into Kansas.

U.S. Attorney Tom Beall says Yoan Alejandro Castillo-Zamora, 31, a citizen of Mexico, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Authorities arrested him on Jan. 13, 2017. Federal agents watched him and others at a business in Kansas City, Kan., unload liquid methamphetamine from a fuel tank on a semi-truck into five-gallon buckets.

The buckets were then loaded into a white Dodge Caravan.

The Drug Enforcement Administration, the Kansas City DEA Special Response Team, the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department and Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Hough assisted in the case.
