Man shoots dog in the face, says he 'didn’t have no time for the vet'

Gloria: Unleashed Pet Rescue Harley Mobley: Saline County Sheriff's Office

SLATER, Mo. (KWCH) The Saline County Sheriff's Office in Missouri arrested a man for animal abuse after they say he shot a dog in the face.

The sheriff's office says the Slater animal pound found a female pit bull with a gunshot wound to the head on Oct. 9.

It was picked up by Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption on Oct. 12. A few days later, on Oct. 16, the pet rescue filed a report of animal abuse.

As a result of the investigation, authorities arrested Harley Mobley and charged him with animal abuse, a class E felony.

According to an affidavit obtained by PEOPLE Magazine, Mobley told police was going to put Gloria down because he thought she had rabies and “didn’t have no time for the vet that morning.”

Gloria had to have surgery to repair her injuries. She is now recovering in foster care.

Mobley is being held on a $7,500 bond.
