Man charged with kicking toddler at Wichita grocery store found competent to stand trial

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) A Sedgwick County judge ruled the man who police say kicked a toddler inside a Wichita grocery store is competent to stand trial.

Trace Riff, a former model, faces several charges including aggravated battery.

Police say he kicked a one-year-old boy from behind at the Dillons Grocery store at Douglas and Hillside last December. The boy did not suffer any injuries.

Other customers and employees tackled Riff and held him until police arrived.

Police say in addition to kicking the young child, witnesses say Riff yelled racial slurs and said he was a white supremacist.
