McConnell gives tour of KC-46 fuselage training facility
McConnell Air Force Base Wednesday provided a tour of its KC-46A Pegasus Fuselage Trainer.
The Air Force acquired ownership of the facility in May, McConnell says the fuselage trainer is one of 16 new facilities built on its property in preparation for the arrival of the KC-46, a large tanker described as "a military aerial refueling and strategic military transport aircraft."
"The fuselage trainer, commonly referred to as the "FUT" is a physical replica of the KC-46A's main cargo deck from the forward entry door to the aft of the rear entry door," McConnell says.
"The (16) new facilities totaled $267 million in construction costs, which utilized local contractors and material resources throughout construction," McConnell says.
