Missouri police find teen who shielded elderly woman during rainstorm

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KWCH) The Independence, Mo. Police Department said it has finally found the Good Samaritan teenager who shielded an elderly woman from the rain last week.

An officer witnessed the teen take off his coat and help an elderly lady in a parking lot during a rainstorm. He snapped a photo and shared it on the department's Facebook page in hopes of finding him and thanking him for his kindness.

A family member saw the viral story and called the police department. Officer Holt then met up with 14-year-old Tyrea and his mother over the weekend and took them both out to dinner.

“Well, this kiddo who I have only known a short time already means the world to me. As promised after finding him I took him out to dinner. He and his wonderful mom Ebony enjoyed some Red Lobster," said Officer Holt.

Good work Tyrea! And thanks to Officer Holt for making good on your promise!
