(CNN) Moviepass is shutting down, but it's unclear if it's permanent.
The once-revolutionary ticketing service offered theater-goers the ability to see one movie per day for a fee of just $10 a month.
The service's parent company, Helios and Matheson, said Friday efforts to recapitalize Moviepass have "not been successful to date."
"The company is unable to predict if or when the Moviepass service will continue," said
it said the company is continuing to seek financing for its operations--
but there's no guarantee it will get it and if it does, that its committee will find the terms acceptable.
