Son of Wabaunsee County Sheriff dies in south Wichita crash

The son of Wabaunsee County Sheriff Rob Hoskins has died in a south Wichita crash.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the it happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday on I-135 near Hydraulic.

Luke Hoskins, 24, was headed southbound in the northbound lanes of I-135 when he drove head-on into a semi-truck.

Troopers say Hoskins was not wearing a seatbelt.

The northbound lanes of I-135 were shut down in south Wichita Wednesday night due to an injury crash.

Emergency crews temporarily closed the highway between Hydraulic and Pawnee due to the head-on crash involving a vehicle and a semi.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the passenger vehicle was southbound in the northbound lanes of I-135, leading to the head-on crash with an empty tanker truck.

The semi driver was not seriously injured, the KHP says.

One person was in "very critical condition" after the crash reported a little after 8 p.m.
