The Kansas Wildlife Exhibit revealed the name for its new bobcat.

The bobcat, now named Rufus, was orphaned last May after his mother was hit and killed by a car.

The name was chosen out of 900 suggestions on social media.

Students from Riverside Elementary say the name really fits Rufus' personality.

“I think he’s really cute and funny," said Sienn Weber, Riverside Leadership Magnate. “I think it really fits his personality and how he’s really adventurous.”

You'll soon see a new member at the Kansas Wildlife Exhibit in Riverside Park.

The City of Wichita Parks & Recreation says there will soon be a new bobcat from the Milford Nature Center

The bobcat was orphaned last May after his mother was hit and killed by a car. Now, he’ll join all the other orphaned or injured animals at the Kansas Wildlife Exhibit.

"What better place to house the new bobcat than where our beloved Bobby lived and played for nearly 21 years?"

City Parks & Rec says it now needs the public's help to name the bobcat! Suggestions can be made on the department's Facebook page.
