Norton man charged with first-degree murder in wife's death

NORTON, Kan. (KWCH) A Norton elementary school secretary murdered in earlier this month was laid to rest on Tuesday.

Authorities found Lori Shields dead inside her rural Norton home on Sunday, March 31.

Police arrested her husband, Damian Shields, in connection with her death a day later in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Damien was transported back to Kansas and made his first appearance in court Monday afternoon. He's charged with first-degree murder.

Damien remains in the Norton County jail on a $1 million dollar bond.
