Norton police warn of phone scams

NORTON, Kan. (KWCH) The Norton Police Department is warning of a phone scam circulating in the community.

Police urge residents not to give out personal or financial information over the phone.

Money should also not be sent by telephone or mail. This includes checks, debit cards, cash and iTunes or Amazon gift cards.

"Remember that if they ask you to send money first, it is most likely a scam. If you have any questions over a telephone call of this nature, ask the individual for a call back name and number," police said.

For questions or concerns about scams, the police department can be reached at (785) 877-5010.
