Marion Co. Sheriff identifies man killed in officer-involved shooting

MARION COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) UPDATE - Wednesday p.m. - Marion County Sheriff Craft has identified the man shot and killed by officers Tuesday night as 50-year-old Robb Stewart.

Craft says Stewart did not fire at officers, but had a gun in his hand.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

UPDATE - Wednesday a.m. - We are still working to learn more about what happened in this case. Police and the KBI have not said much outside of confirming it was an officer-involved shooting and that there is no threat to the public.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and local agencies are working an officer-involved shooting in the Marion County town of Lehigh.

The shooting report was made a little after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The KBI responded to the scene, along with deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office and officers with the Hillsboro and Marion Police Departments.

The KBI says the Marion County Sheriff's Office asked the bureau to assist on the call a little before 7 p.m. The KBI says its Crime Scene Response Team has arrived in Lehigh and there is no suspect on the loose nor any threat to the public.
