WPD: Teen shot while selling shoes on 'Offer Up' app

WICHITA, Kan. Update: Tuesday, 10:25 a.m.

Wichita police say a 19-year-old man was shot Monday afternoon while trying to sell a pair of shoes through the Offer Up app.

The teen was in the 1600 block of N. Emporia when a gray Chevy Impala pulled up with several men inside. The men, in their 20's and 30's, pointed a gun at the teen and a struggle ensued.

The 19-year-old was shot in the shoulder. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Police say he didn't know the people who were trying to buy the shoes.

Through the investigation, officers developed the name of two suspects and work is being done to locate them.
One man is taken to a Wichita hospital with critical injuries after a shooting Monday afternoon in the 1600 block of North Emporia. Police responded to the call a little before 2 p.m.

Police say the man was shot after trying to purchase an item from online. Police say the man was hit in the back of the head and then was shot in the shoulder as he tried to run back into a home.

Police say they are working to identify suspects in this case. A 911 dispatch supervisor described a possible suspect vehicle as a mid-2000's Chevy Impala.
