Wichita police investigate possible drowning after man found in river downtown

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Police investigate a possible drowning in downtown Wichita after people walking in the area of Douglas and McLean called 911 to report seeing a man in the river.

The emergency call was made about 4 p.m. Thursday. Police say it's unclear how long the man was in the water, but it was long enough for this to be a recovery effort and not a rescue.

The effort to identify that man continues, as of Thursday evening. Anyone with information on what happened should call 911.
