Police identify man killed in south Wichita crash over the weekend

Wichita police have identified a man killed in a crash early Sunday morning as 24-year-old Erik Luna.

Officers were dispatched to the crash at 31st St. S. and Broadway around 1:45 a.m.

They found a Mitsubishi Eclipse overturned with two people inside.

Police say Luna was driving south on Broadway when he lost control of the car, struck barrier and flipped it.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Police say a 20-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries in the crash and remains in the hospital.

This is Wichita's seventh traffic fatality this year.

Wichita Police believe alcohol and speed were factors in a deadly early-morning crash in South Wichita.

It happened at around 1:45 near Broadway and 31st Street South.

Police say the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound, when the car struck a curb and a concrete barrier.

The 24-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 20-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries, but is expected to recover.

No other vehicles were involved.
