UPDATE--Monday: The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office has identified the man whose body was found in a crashed vehicle southwest of Wichita Sunday afternoon.

The sheriff's office says 58-year-old Gregory Gorrell, of Wichita, died after the van he was driving left the road and rolled over near 47th South and West Street.

Deputies found the wreck Sunday afternoon, but said Gorrell and the van may have been there for some time, as it was hard to see from the road.

The sheriff's office is still investigating the crash.

The body of a lone occupant in a crashed vehicle was discovered Sunday afternoon near 47th South and West Street.

Sedgwick County Sheriff's Sgt. Nathan Gerdsen said a citizen called 911 at about 4:42 p.m. Sunday after discovering the scene of an accident in the area of the Big Ditch.

Gerdsen said deputies arrived on scene and discovered a vehicle and its lone occupant that "had been there for some time." The occupant was pronounced dead on the scene.

Gerdsen said it appeared the vehicle had been traveling south on West Street when it went straight at a curve and went over a burm into the Big Ditch. He said the crash occurred at least several hours before the vehicle was spotted.

The name of the person found in the vehicle is being withheld until the person's next of kin has been notified, Gerdsen said.
