UPDATE: Church members say Pastor Don Duncan has died from injuries he received last week.

An elder at the church says Duncan died Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday night a Bible study was held at Calvary Chapel Fellowship, Duncan's church. It was a study the pastor was scheduled to lead.

"it was more sad that he's gone this way, but there was some rejoicing at the same time. (Wednesday) was (Duncan's) birthday, so it was the ultimate present to get to go home and be with the Lord," Elder Gary Lang says.

Duncan's funeral is Saturday (Dec. 17).

A Wichita church community came together Friday to pray for their pastor who suffered a serious brain injury in a fall.

Pastor Don Duncan of Calvary Chapel Fellowship fell at least 20 feet from scaffolding in the church gym Thursday. Duncan landed on his head, and suffered serious brain swelling and trauma.

Parishioners from Calvary Chapel Fellowship, as well as those from the west Wichita Calvary location, met to lean on each other for support and support Duncan's family.

"My phone has been blowing up all day long. If you call the church it forwards to my phone. Different churches, people I didn't know before, (are reaching out)," said Gary Lang, a church elder.

Evie Fleese serves on a prayer team at Duncan's church. She said the first think church members did was pray, because they believe that will work to help Duncan.

"One day at a time, that's all we can do. I mean, it's going to take a long road for him to heal and we're expecting that. We're trusting God that He knows what He's doing," Evie said.

Church members also met to help coordinate carpools for the Duncans' grandchildren. They want to help get the kids to and from school so Duncan's wife can stay with him at the hospital.
