Man killed in crash on I-235 in S. Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) A 29-year-old man is dead after a crash early Thursday morning in south Wichita.

The crash happened before 2:30 a.m. at the bridge over Gold Street on southbound I-235 between Seneca and MacArthur.

Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Chad Crittenden says a driver of a 2000 Honda Civic lost control and struck a bridge wall. The Honda was sitting partially in the left lane sideways when an approaching 2014 Dodge minivan struck it.

Crittenden says Kenneth Piper died on the scene. The driver of the minivan was taken to a Wichita hospital with serious injuries but is expected to be okay.

Piper was not wearing a seatbelt.
