Parts of Discovery Intermediate School demolished

Demolition is underway for parts of Goddard's Discovery Intermediate School. The demolition will make way for a new library, secured offices and new classrooms.

Crews are demolishing the south pod of the school and the library.

The building has served several roles since it opened in 1971. The building was originally Goddard High School, then in 1997, it opened at Goddard Middle School. Eight years ago, it became Discovery Intermediate.

The man who helped design the building is very familiar with the school's history.

"I am a life-long Goddard resident," said Matt Hamm of SGCF Architecture. "I graduated from Goddard High School in 1993. For me, this is coming home and having an awesome opportunity to improve my home district."
