Lisa Meilander posted the photos she snapped at Eat'n Park in Belle Vernon on Saturday night, and they've since been shared more than 61,000 times and received more than 207,000 reactions.
But it's the story behind the photos that make them so powerful.
Meilander said she and her family were dining at the restaurant but didn't see the man come in. She said it wasn't until "our server, Dylan, dropped to one knee to look him eye-to-eye as he got ready to take his order."
She said the man apologized for not hearing too well because he forgot to put in his hearing aids in. He said he lost his hearing during his time in the war.
"He was 91 years old with many stories to tell. Dylan patiently listened giving him his full attention," said Meilander.
She said the man apologized for talking so much, stating, "I'm alone now, and I don't often have someone to talk to."
She said Dylan smiled then helped the man figure out what he wanted to eat.
Meilander said she told Dylan she wanted to pay for the man's meal, but someone else offered to take care of the check first.
She said after the man received his food, Dylan came back on his break and asked if he could sit with the gentleman as he ate.
"As we left the restaurant the two of them were conversing and many people seated nearby were smiling. It was a touching sight. With all of the negative stories about our youth today this was a breath of fresh air," said Meilander.
