Pickleball popularity picks up in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) An addicting and amazingly fun sport is coming to Wichita.

Amanda Cervantes, a lead instructor at Riverside Tennis Center, says pickleball is a sport picking up in popularity across the nation.

Now in Wichita, she says they are looking for the popularity to grow locally, with the opening of a new restaurant and venue, Chicken and Pickle, 1240 N. Greenwich, Wichita.

"The excitement is from being able to just pick up a paddle and play. It's just an easy family-oriented activity that at any level and any age can get involved in" said Cervantes.

Pickleball is a paddle sport played with a special perforated ball played on a court about the size of a tennis court.

Cervantes also says aside from tennis, pickleball is the best sport.
