HUTCHINSON, Kan. The future of Hutchinson's Avenue A Elementary School is a hot topic for parents.
Tuesday night, many gathered in the school's library to address its potential closing.
Many of the parents at the meeting were concerned that if Avenue A was to close, their kids wouldn't be able to get the same quality of education at other schools, saying smaller class sizes help their kids, and cater more to special needs students.
But the district is in a dilemma, according to the superintendent. Those small class sizes are the result of low attendance at the school, something the district says is only likely to get worse.
No final decisions were made at Tuesday night's meeting, but parents are determined to fight to keep this school from closing.
