Preparing for the first freeze of the season

Meteorologist Jake Dunne says it will be a windy and warm Wednesday before major changes move in tomorrow. Morning showers and storms in eastern Kansas will give way to mostly cloudy skies and highs in the 70s while western Kansas climbs into the 80s under mainly sunny skies.

A powerful cold front will march across Kansas on Thursday. Ahead of the front, eastern Kansas will see rain showers and 70s while western Kansas will witness temperatures falling into the 30s and 40s. On Thursday night, a mix of rain and snow is expected to transition into all snow, mainly northwest of a Garden City to Hays line where a dusting to an inch of snow is possible.

After a frigid Friday with highs in the 40s across Kansas, sunny skies will warm-up our weekend. Expect 60s on Saturday and 70s on Sunday.
