HUTCHINSON, Kan. Update Wednesday (Sept. 13):
Free tickets to the Sept. 14 Smash Mouth concert at the Kansas State Fair are now available to all area first responders, not limited to Reno County.
"If you are a first responder from outside Reno County and would like to go to the concert, stop by the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center's Auxiliary Gift Shop and pick up your free ticket," a news release on the free-ticket offer says. "Just show your I.D. and get ready for a great concert."
The gift shop is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
As a token of appreciation for their work, free tickets to see the band 'Smash Mouth' at the Kansas State Fair are available to every first responder in Reno County.
In a Monday news release, officials with Hutchinson Regional Medical Center say, "The Kansas State Fair, Nex-tech Wireless, Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System and Smash Mouth want to thank the First Responders of Reno County for their amazing efforts in battling the wild fires last summer:
Each Reno County first responder gets a free ticket to see the multi-hit band Thursday night at the fair.
"Tickets will be distributed to Reno County First Responders Headquarters by Tuesday, September 12. First Responders will be recognized at the Smash Mouth concert," Hutch Regional Mecial Center officials say.
They say the 500 concert tickets, plus 500 gate admission tickets add up to a value of about $20,000.
Groups receiving tickets include the Reno County Sheriff's Office, the Hutchinson Fire Department, the Hutchinson and South Hutchinson police departments, Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System Emergency and Security Departments, LIfe Team and Reno County representatives from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
