Reports: Sam's Club closing more than 60 stores nationwide

Reports Thursday say Walmart is closing dozens of Sam's Club stores nationwide.

Anchorage station KTVA reports from an audit team leader at the store's Anchorage location that all Alaska Sam's Clubs are closing "as part of a larger downsizing across the U.S."

CBS News reports closures also affect stores in New Jersey, upstate New York, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

Social media posts Thursday show that at some locations, employees showed up to work to learn their store was closing, with nearly no advance notice.

CBS News reports from Business Insider that some 63 stores are set to close nationwide. You can see the full list of Sam's Club closures here:

Sam's Club competes with Costco and has more than 650 locations employing more than 100,000 people with an average of 175 employees per store, the company says.
