WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH/RELEASE) A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Monday for Wichita's newest Ronald McDonald House.

The new facility is located in Wesley Medical Plaza located at 551 N. Hillside and features 5,300 sq. ft. of outdoor space for the families to enjoy.

“Wesley has partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita in helping to support pediatric families for many, many years,” said Bill Voloch, Wesley Healthcare CEO. “We can’t think of a better location to care for families than right across the street from our Wesley Children’s Hospital.”

The new 20,200 sq. ft., twenty bedroom facility is the largest Ronald McDonald House to be built in Kansas.

“We provide a private place for families to stay each night in the Ronald McDonald House, along with the little things that are otherwise easily taken for granted – warm meals, a hot shower, play spacesand friendly faces to come home to after a long day,” said Susan Smythe, CEO of RMHC Wichita.

For 36 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita has provided a “home-away- from-home” in two 10-bedroom houses that have served more than 28,000 families who traveled to Wichita for pediatric care.

RMHC Wichita serves children who are 21 years of age or younger as well as pregnant high-risk mothers and their families.
