Road construction causes back ups on I-70
Kansas roads looked nothing like those on the east or west coasts of the United States. But that didn't mean, holiday travel was smooth for everyone.
Wednesday night, we received several messages from people who encountered traffic backups for miles in north-central Kansas.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says traffic near the Ellis/Russell County Line will be reduced to one lane in each direction due to construction. The speed limit will be 60 MPH in the construction zone, the lane width will be restricted to 16 feet.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says road construction on I-70 is bringing drivers almost to a standstill.
Trooper Ben Gardner says it has caused some bottlenecking but so far, there have been no crashes.
Eyewitness News will continue to follow the holiday travel throughout the weekend.
