Salvation Army warns of imposters going door-to-door asking for donations

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KWCH) The Salvation Army in Garden City says is warning residents about at least two people who are going door-to-door with what appears to be a red kettle.

The person claims to be with the Salvation Army and asks people for donations. The Salvation Army says it does not collect money this way.

The organization says it has 10 different locations across Garden City where people can donate.

"We are more than happy to accept donations at any of those so people know their donations are benefiting people in need in our community," said Captain Jeff Curran, the Garden City Community Center and Corps commander.

If you encounter someone at your door claiming to be with the Salvation Army, you're asked to call Garden City Police at 620-276-1300.
