Sam's Club donates supplies to United Way, Hutchinson fire crews
Several companies continue to step up and help provide supplies to crews fighting the fires.
Wednesday the three Wichita Sam's Club locations donated thousands of dollars of needed to supplies to the United Way.
Mark Stump, Director of Direct Services for the United Way of the Plains spent Wednesday morning driving from Wichita to Hutchinson to deliver those supplies.
Tuesday someone at Sam's Club called United Way's 211 number to offer help.
"People want to figure out how to help and at United Way, we want to be that link in the community to be able to address needs," said Stump.
He says the United Way is working with the incident command team and emergency management in Hutchinson to make sure crews have what they need.
Between the three Wichita stores, they donated nearly $4,000 of Gatorade, protein bars, baby wipes and eye wash.
"These are great donations to help the cause, but money is needed," said Stump. "There's a lot of people who have lost their homes and other assets in this fire, so we're going to need those cash donations to be able to help those people long-term, recover."
The United Way will drop the supplies off at the red cross collection point at the Walmart on 17th in Hutchinson. From there, firefighters will get them and take them to crews in the field.
Anyone interested in getting involved and helping, can reach out to the United Way by calling 211.
