The Butler County Sheriff's Office warns of a scam luring people into buying vehicles they never get.

With this scam, the caller claims to be from a company called Central Core Logistics and says they have a shop at 733 SW Purity Springs Road in El Dorado.

The sheriff says the caller will try to get you into buying a car over the phone and having you pay for it by using a wire transfer.

"Obviously the buyer never receives the vehicle," the sheriff's office says.

The number the scammer calls from is a 785 area code, which does not match Butler County.

"Just a reminder to do your research," the sheriff's office says. "A simple Google search will reveal the address belongs to the State of Kansas."

The sheriff's office advises everyone to remain vigilant and ask questions about sales pitches or offers online.
