KANSAS PROUD: Man offers to build bed for 11-year-old with special needs

WICHITA, Kan. Update Dec. 22

Eyewitness News has received more donations on Friday for 11-year-old Tayssa that needs a bed that fits her special needs.

Eyewitness News learned on Thursday night, that Tayssa's mom has been trying for years to raise money for a specialty bed that costs around $8,000.

One man reached out with an idea. He has a relative with special needs, who had a specialized bed built. Now, he wants to build one for Tayssa.

The man says he has a contractor lined up to build it, and we will take all the money given to help pay for the cost of the materials. Eyewitness News is still working on the logistics of the plan but it looks like we are going to be able to get Tayssa the bed she needs.

An amazing moment in the KWCH newsroom took place Thursday, the day after we shared a Facebook post asking what you wanted for Christmas.

We received almost 500 responses, some serious, some a little funnier. From those responses, Thursday morning, a Secret Santa who wanted to remain anonymous, dropped off three of those gifts for total strangers.

The Secret Santa says she saved up all year and Thursday, Eyewitness News' Jacob Albracht tracked down some of the lucky recipients to deliver the good news.
