The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office Tuesday provided further details surrounding the funeral of Deputy Robert Kunze, fatally shot Sunday near Garden Plain in west Sedgwick County.

Kunze's funeral is set 10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 21) at Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple, Wichita, KS 67209. Kunze's burial will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.

A public viewing for Deputy Kunze takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Friday, the procession from Central Community Church to Resthaven will go west on Maple to 119th, then south on 119th to his final resting place.

The sheriff's office says people should be prepared for traffic to be blocked off at major intersections along the procession route. Maple Street from Arapaho to 119th will be shut down from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and people living in this area should take an alternate route to get in and out of their neighborhoods, the sheriff's office says.

"It is hard to say how long the procession route will last as numerous people will be attending this event," the sheriff's office says. "The public is more than welcome to line the streets, bring signs of support, wear something blue or whatever your heart desires to show support."

A public viewing for Deputy Robert Kunze will be on Wednesday, September 19 and Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 5 p.m....
