Ahead of Friday's Veterans Classic against Providence at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., the Wichita State University men's basketball team had an experience of a lifetime Wednesday in the nation's capital.
The Roundhouse, which gives fans an inside look at Shocker sports, chronicled events Wednesday that led the young team to a meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.
The Roundhouse reports Secretary of State and former Kansas Congressman Mike Pompeo opened the door for his favorite college team to meet the leader of the free world.
The Shockers had the chance to take part in a White House tour and have conversations with Pompeo, President Trump and Rep. Ron Estes, in D.C. representing Kansas' Fourth Congressional District.
"That's a once-in-a-lifetime experience," Wichita State senior Markis McDuffie said.
