Sheriff: 3-year-old Kinsley shot by sibling released from the hospital

A 3-year-old Kinsley boy who was shot by his sibling last week is out of the hospital, according to the Edwards County sheriff.

He did not know if charges would be filed in the case.

He said the investigation continues.

The Edwards County sheriff says a 3-year-old Kinsley boy injured in Thursday evening's accidental shooting is stable in his recovery at a Wichita hospital.

The sheriff says the boy was shot by his brother with a rifle a little before 6 p.m. on East 4th Street in Kinsley. He was then flown to a hospital in Wichita for treatment.

Friday, Eyewitness News spoke with neighbors in Kinsley who say they often see the children play outside and are shaken by what happened Thursday.

"Our hearts and prayers are with the family," neighbor Kim Madison says. "We wish the family well and that the baby recovers. We're praying for the family because we know what a hard time it must be."

A three-year-old boy is at a Wichita hospital following a Thursday evening accidental shooting reported in the Edwards County town of Kinsley, near Dodge City.

The Edwards County Sheriff tells us two three-year-old brothers are involved.He said that one shot the other in what investigators believe is an accidental shooting. The sheriff tells our crew this happened a little before 6 p.m. on East 4th Street in Kinsley.

The sheriff is calling this an accident and says the boy shot and airlifted to Wichita suffered significant blood loss. The sheriff did not have a condition for the injured boy.
