Spring Break, NCAA Tournament cause big airport crowds
Spring breakers and basketball fans have something in common.
They'll meet at Eisenhower Airport for a busy travel week.
Airport staff expect long lines at both the check-in counter and at the security checkpoint.
Many are either coming to Wichita for the NCAA tournament or heading out to follow their favorite teams.
Airport staff say the number of arrivals and departures haven't changed based on the newly released NCAA game schedules.
That means more people will be trying to snag what flights are available, but travel this time of year isn't just for basketball fans.
"Right now we have spring break going on, march madness going through and where we usually screen just over 2,000 people a day," said TSA Trainer Robin Farlow "with spring break and march madness, it could be over 3,000 people a day".
Airport staff say you should get to the airport an hour and a half before your flight to make sure you have plenty of time to get to your gate.
